What is a Temporary 100% VA Rating?

In some cases, the VA will temporarily give you a 100% rating depending if the conditions affecting you in present time. For example, if a veteran had a surgery or had to wear a cast that results in a recovery of at least one month, and there is an issue with mobility, the VA will provide a 100% rating for one to three months. Another example is the veteran that stays in an approved hospital for more than 21 days, or the veteran was in a hospital under observation for more than 21 days at the VA’s expense. Another example is the veteran that has an unstable condition, meaning it could change or hasn’t been fully treated. Then the VA will assign either a temporary 100% or a 50% disability rating for one year.
