I’m Robert Hoffman with Veterans Guide. In this video, we’re taking a look at the differences between a 100% Disability rating and TDIU.
A 100% Disability rating means the VA has determined your service-connected conditions are fully disabling, based on detailed medical evaluations and functional limitations.
On the other hand, TDIU—Which stands for Total Disability Individual Unemployability—is granted when your disabilities prevent you from securing substantially gainful employment, even if your overall rating is less than 100%.
The key difference? A 100% rating is based solely on the severity of your conditions, while TDIU focuses on your ability to work based on your conditions.
Many veterans qualify for TDIU without a 100% rating if their service-connected disabilities significantly impact their employment opportunities.
If you’re facing challenges with your TDIU application or need expert guidance through the process, contact Veterans Guide today. We’re dedicated to helping you build a robust TDIU claim that secures the benefits you’ve earned.
